Highlights and winners at the American Music Awards AMAs 2016

Tuesday 20 December 2016

Bruno Mars opened the 2016 American Music Awards, fresh off of his new album release; he sang an energetic rendition of the titular song “24K Magic,” complete with ’90s-style tracksuits.

Bruno Mars on “60 Minutes”: I almost gave up on “Uptown Funk”
Co-hosts Jay Pharoah and Gigi Hadid greeted the audience at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and Hadid joked, “Don’t worry guys tonight we do not have to deal with the electoral college, so ... ”

“Tonight, it’s all about the music,” said Pharoah.

Pharoah, best-known for his impersonations from when he was on “Saturday Night Live,” dropped a Jay Z impersonation early on, while Hadid did her best Melania Trump impression. He also impersonated John Legend and later, Donald Trump saying, “I love Bruno Mars. I don’t know what color he is so I can’t deport him.”

Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer presented the first award for Pop Rock Duo or Group, which went to Twenty One Pilots.

Sara Foster and Erin Foster presented Niall Horan, who sang “This Town.”

Fifth Harmony made a grand entrance on a set that looked like burning wastelands, complete with flames, and performed “That’s My Girl.”

Nina Dobrev and Julianne Hough presented Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, which went to Drake for “Views.” Drake was nominated for 13 awards on Sunday.

Drake gave a nod to Dobrev and said, “Me and Nina were on ‘Degrassi’ together -- we’ve come a long way,” as he accepted his award. Drake also thanked the city of Toronto in his speech.

The Chainsmokers took the stage to sing “Closer.”

James Bay then took the stage to sing “Let It Go.”

Row three of the audience, including Frankie Grande, Matt Bomer, DJ Khaled and Heidi Klum took on the most popular social media trend and did the mannequin challenge -- Pharoah tried to join in, with mixed success.

Transgender model Gigi Gorgeous and singer Bebe Rexha welcomed Shawn Mendes to the stage to sing “Treat You” and “Mercy,” but first, Gorgeous had a message for the crowd.

“Today marks the end of transgender awareness week, which celebrates people for who they are and who they’re meant to be,” she said.

Ciara took the stage and joked, “For those of you over 60, EDM is not a medical condition. Electronic music dance music is incredibly addictive and what we’re celebrating in this category.” The award went to the Chainsmokers, who thanked the AMAs for recognizing the EDM genre.

The Weeknd performed his new single “Starboy”

Miss America Savvy Shields and Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line presented the award for Collaboration of the Year, which went to Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign for “Work from Home.”

T.J. Miller and Olivia Munn presented Favorite Country Song, which went to Tim McGraw for “Humble and Kind.”

Gigi Hadid’s good friends Karlie Kloss presented Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, who performed “Side to Side” on a palm-covered tropical set with plenty of shirtless male dancers.

Pharoah recreated Taylor Swift’s popular Apple Music commercial, complete with a blonde bob and a treadmill, before presenting a new Apple Music commercial with Drake.

In the new commercial, Drake is in the weight room working out with a trainer, but when his trainer steps out for a moment, he hits play on Swift’s “Bad Blood” and dances and lip-syncs before getting distracted during a bench press and falling over.

Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper and actress/musician Teyana Taylor presented the award for New Artist of the Year, which went to Zayn. He thanked his family for their support, and was embraced by Hadid, his girlfriend, as soon as he got off stage.

Chrissy Teigen took the stage to introduce her husband John Legend to the stage and bragged that the singer has written about her before: “What can I say? I am very inspiring.” She also referred to the election and said everyone needed some love during this “f***ing s***storm.”

Legend sang “Love Me Now” against a backdrop of photos of people embracing each other.

Milla Jovovich introduced Twenty One Pilots, who performed “Heathens” and “Stressed Out” while wearing face masks.

Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun presented Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, which went to Drake. Drake thanked fellow nominees Future and Fetty Wap during his acceptance speech.

Bella Thorne and Rachel Platten announced Justin Bieber onto the stage. Bieber sang “Let Me Love You” and looked casual in a t-shirt and khakis as audience members cried and took videos on their phones.

Rebecca Romijn and Heidi Klum presented Top Soundtrack, which went to Prince’s “Purple Rain” -- the third time the album won an American Music Award.

Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson accepted the award on his behalf and gave a touching speech, saying, “He is still one of the world’s most respected and loved artists, but what he told me was he wanted to be known as the world’s most prolific songwriters and with 984 titles to his credit and counting, he has done just that. In the words of Prince, ‘With love, honor and respect for every living thing in the universe, separation ceases. And we all become one being, singing one song.’ On behalf of Prince, our wonderful friend, teacher and brother I humbly accept this award.” Nelson choked up toward the end of her speech as she held up her late brother’s trophy.

Matt Bomer introduced his “American Horror Story” co-star Lady Gaga onto the stage, who performed “Million Reasons.” Gaga sat in the middle of a field onstage and looked like a cowgirl in a suede studded outfit as she sang.

Mark Cuban and Idina Menzel presented Favorite Country Duo or Group, which went to Florida Georgia Line, who thanked their fans and thanked God, saying they never want to take their success for granted.

Zoe Saldana presented Favorite Alternative Rock Artist, which went to Twenty One Pilots -- their second of the night.

Pharoah claimed that Kanye West could not come but sent him written rants, and read them aloud with lots of grunts, “Huh, I invented McDonalds -- huh! I’m a better writer than Dr. Seuss, huh. I’m Jupiter’s third moon and Gargamel. The rest of you are Smurfs.”

Green Day took the stage to perform “Bang Bang.”

A clip played of Robert Downey Jr. performing with Sting just before Downey took the stage. The actor joked that he wanted that clip played every time he got on stage. He presented the Award of Merit to Sting and talked about the singer’s music and charity work: “Everyone knows him knows he cares.”

Sting took the stage to perform “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You,” “Message in a Bottle” and “Every Breath You Take.”

After he sang, he said, “It’s important for me to acknowledge the very real debt I owe to American music. After all, American music lit the musical spark in my young mind.” Sting alluded to the presidential election and said, “The spirit of welcome and inclusion is what made this country the greatest in the world.”

He added, “While I may be an Englishman in New York, my musical soul is all American, thank you.”

Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled and August Alsina took the stage to perform “Do You Mind,” and they were quickly joined by Future and Rick Ross. During the song, DJ Khaled reminded the audience several times that it is currently the no. 1 record in the country

Blake Jenner and Hailee Steinfeld presented Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, which went to Selena Gomez -- her first American Music Award.

“Most of you knew a lot of my life whether I liked it or not and I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said.

She continued, “I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here ... If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken.”

The camera panned to Lady Gaga, who appeared to be crying, as she held her hand over her heart.

Jenny McCarthy and former AMA winner Donnie Wahlberg presented Artist of the Year, which went to Ariana Grande. It was Grande’s third American Music Award. She said she was trying not to cry as she thanked her fans, family and colleagues.

Model Hannah Davis introduced Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar onstage to close out the show and perform “Don’t Wanna Know.”

Katy Perry teases she is working on new music

Monday 19 December 2016

The 32-year-old singer songwriter has hinted she is set to release new material in the near future as she shared a string of videos on her social media account over the weekend of her in the recording studio with fellow musicians.

The brunette beauty posted a clip of her with her tooth coloured in with a black marker pen to her Instagram Story, which only stays on the site for 24 hours, whilst she is captured singing.

The 'Roar' hitmaker gave a sneak peek into what could be a new release, as she sang the lyric: "Don't be scared to."

This post was then followed by another clip of a guitar being strummed, which she captioned "OMG instruments".

And during the second video other vocals can be heard in the background.

Katy previously revealed she was planning to unveil new songs in the wake of the American Presidential election, which saw Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton, who Katy is a devoted supporter of, to be the new leader of the USA.

Speaking previously about her musical plans, Katy said: "It's funny, sometimes people who disagree with me just say, 'Shut up and sing.' Boy, will I do so in a whole new way... next year. Hell hath no fury like a woman REBORN."

Meanwhile, the musician, who is currently dating actor Orlando Bloom, has sparked rumours the pair have got engaged as Katy has been seen sporting a jewel on her wedding finger in New York City last month.

Speaking about the couple's romance, a source said: "She (Katy) walked with her left hand leading her, and bent her hand to show off the large sparkler to the cameras. They seemed proud to show off their happiness ... Katy's mood was better than [I] had seen before. Katy was happy and laughing, joking with Orlando and pals as they got into the car. They seemed proud to show off their happiness."

Julia Roberts Is Coming to TV. We Have Some Ideas for Her.

Julia Roberts, one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, is taking her first major step into the binge-watching age.

She has signed on to star in a limited-series adaptation of “Today Will Be Different,” a novel by Maria Semple (“Where’d You Go, Bernadette”), Annapurna Pictures said Thursday. No timing or network has been announced. But if Ms. Roberts is getting serious about the small screen, there are plenty of other projects that fans (well, some of us) might like to see her tackle.

Keep Adapting Novels

Ms. Roberts knows how to mine material about women who leave, find or misplace love. Her 2010 film “Eat Pray Love,” adapted from Elizabeth Gilbert’s 2006 memoir, did well at the box office, and her performance as a frustrated wife and daughter in the adaptation of the play “August: Osage County” earned her an Oscar nomination. “Eat Pray Love” has actually produced a real-life sequel opportunity: Ms. Gilbert said in July that she was leaving her husband — because she had fallen in love with her best friend.

Visit Unfamiliar Territory, Like the Upside Down

I’m not sure if Julia Roberts has any interest in frantic Christmas light displays, but it has worked out well for Winona Ryder in “Stranger Things.” Good acting on sci-fi projects that hit close to home, like that Netflix series or shows like “Mr. Robot” and “Orphan Black, is the stuff of awards season glory — or, at least, water cooler debates.

The World Needs More Erin Brockoviches

Who are the female activists working on behalf of Flint, Mich., and the Standing Rock Sioux? Ms. Roberts may be a lodestar for the modern romantic comedy, but when she plays an activist, her work is just as memorable. The 2000 film “Erin Brockovich” centered around a single mother who helped build a legal case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company for toxic dumping in Hinkley, Calif. That role earned Ms. Roberts an Oscar for best actress.

“Today Will Be Different” would not be her first foray into TV. In the 2014 HBO TV movie “The Normal Heart,” Ms. Roberts played a doctor who fought for more financing for H.I.V. research.

Stars Hollow Is Not the Only Place for Friendship Drama

The 1988 movie “Mystic Pizza” was a breakout role for Ms. Roberts. In her role as the pizza-making waitress Daisy, we were introduced to both The Hair and That Smile. What happened to the women who grew up in the seaport town of Mystic, Conn.? The recent “Gilmore Girls” season proved that Connecticut has more tales to tell. Let’s hope that Mystic Pizza was not forced to go gluten-free.

O.K., Maybe Just One More Rom-Com

I, for one, would be happy to see Julia Roberts head to Britain to reprise her role as Anna Scott, the Oscar-winning actress who falls in love with a travel bookstore owner in “Notting Hill.”

Has Anna weathered the rise of TMZ and the Kardashians? (Given that the movie is loosely based on Ms. Roberts’s insane level of celebrity, odds are good.) Has Anna’s husband, Will, been able to survive the e-book revolution at his travel bookstore? (Sorry, Will. Outlook not so good.)

Priyanka Chopra's deliciously evil Baywatch character

The 'Quantico' actress stars in the big-screen remake of the iconic TV series, alongside Zac Efron and The Rock, and is thrilled that she was cast as the "deliciously evil" villain.

Speaking about wearing a swimsuit in the movie, she told You magazine: "Modern India is very different. And anyway, I play a bitch in couture - patronising and deliciously evil - so I spend most of the time covered up. I loved every minute of it and was a huge fan of the original 'Baywatch'. In 'Quantico' I have swimsuit scenes, though, and that hasn't provoked any criticism."

Although she has successfully made the leap from Bollywood from Hollywood, Priyanka, 34, admitted she never set out to conquer Tinseltown.

She said: "I never set out to 'crack Hollywood', but if it happens it will be an amazing thing for ending ethnic stereotyping. My parents always taught me to dream big and to chase those dreams. When they raised me they never differentiated between my brother and me or made me feel that there were any limitations on me as a female. Both my parents were doctors and we were a very academic family as most Indians are. That stereotype is true! I was so driven. I always had to come first in school. That same drive pushes me to do well in my work.

Giuliana Rancic marks 5 years being cancer-free

The 42-year-old TV presenter has shared a touching message to mark the milestone after overcoming breast cancer, in which the star admitted she has prayed "every night" for such a day to come.

Captioning a picture of herself on a beach with her arms spread out, the 'Fashion Police' star wrote: ""Everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end." Ever since I was diagnosed with breast cancer, this quote has been my mantra. These words have been my anthem, my inspiration, my comfort and my prayer. They gave me hope that the emotional and physical struggles that had suddenly consumed my life were NOT my life forever. That this was temporary, and I would pass through this storm and feel the sun on the other side. That I would one day feel like "me' again and be OK.

This week, these words are especially meaningful as I celebrate an important milestone - the one I have prayed for every night for one thousand, eight hundred and twenty-seven nights:

Five years cancer-free. (sic)"

Despite hitting the milestone, Giuliana insists she is still "praying" for those who are affected by the disease.

She added: "Now that I've reached this critical milestone, the odds of the breast cancer coming back are not gone but exponentially lower. Breast cancer is more of my history, less of my present, but that doesn't mean I am leaving this battlefield.

Through my journey, I have met those who, it breaks my heart to say, did not reach this milestone. This past year alone, more than 40,000 people died of breast cancer, while another 300,000 received the devastating diagnosis and began their own journeys through the storm.

And I pray for them all. (sic)"

No One Tells Megyn Kelly What to Wear

Megyn Kelly — breakout star of the 2016 presidential campaign, anchor of the “The Kelly File” on Fox News, current object of employment desire for multiple networks, best-selling author, mother, wife, daughter and friend (the last four being how she describes herself) — has something she wants everyone to know. Really. A lot. Listen up.

Not just that it is dangerous when President-elect Donald J. Trump calls out a single citizen on social media, seemingly giving permission to his followers to turn into rabid attack dogs, although she knows firsthand what that is like, having been the original target of his wrath for almost a year, starting in August 2015.

Not just that hard work and an unsparing sense of your own strengths and weaknesses (and those of other people) can put you in a good place, though she writes about that a lot in her book, which is called, naturally, “Settle for More,” a catchphrase she also drops strategically into conversation.

But also (and this may seem off-topic, but it is not) that she in no way apologizes for wearing that spaghetti-strap dress to the Republican National Convention in July. You know, the one that sent the internet into what she called a “meltdown” because it revealed a whole lot of … shoulder! And thus, was unlike any dress that had been seen on a serious anchor ever, except maybe at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Definitely never behind a desk.

“It was a lovely dress,” she said — this in a car during a brief respite back home in New York between book tour stops. “A convention is a kind of free-form extravaganza, and there are certain settings where you can take risks. So I just thought: ‘Yes, I can do this. I can be smart and challenging while I wear spaghetti straps, and everyone is just going to have to get their heads around that.’”

Just to prove it, she has worn it again. Because, she said, “I felt very strongly, I was not going to be defined by what someone else deemed appropriate.”

Indeed, for the past few years, ever since Ms. Kelly, 46, began making a name for herself as the person willing to call out power players on their own contradictions, contortions (verbal and policy-related) and cock-ups, she has become famous for refusing to be boxed in by anyone else’s “appropriate”: not her network’s, nor a political party’s, nor the mythical dos and don’ts of career girl dress.

She took on Newt Gingrich over his “anger issues” in October, sparred with the Republican Svengali Karl Rove over his electoral math in 2012 and challenged the conservative radio host Mike Gallagher over his dismissal of maternity leave. These moments have become widely known as “Megyn Moments,” so named by Jim Rutenberg, media columnist for The New York Times, in a profile last year. But what has been less widely acknowledged is that they extend far beyond her reports and interviews at the anchor desk into a broader statement about how women should be able to frame their gender.

Put simply, she doesn’t just say what she wants. She wears what she wants.

“You cannot underestimate the effect of that,” said Tammy Haddad, chief executive of Haddad Media and a former MSNBC political director. “Her personal image and her business image are one and the same. The intensity she brings to her work, she brings to her look, and she doesn’t allow it to get in her way. That’s good for all women. And it is completely different from what came before.”

For years, industry wisdom suggested that a female anchor, like many female executives, should dress like her male colleagues: in a suit, with a dark jacket and blouse. See, for example, Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer. In 1996, when MSNBC began, Katie Couric donned a beige jacket and black turtleneck for the debut broadcast; by 2006, when she became the first woman to solo anchor the “CBS Evening News,” she had loosened up enough to wear a white jacket and black T-shirt.

This has, admittedly, changed, with the brightly colored and sometime patterned sleeveless sheath dress currently a favorite of newswomen such as Mika Brzezinski of “Morning Joe” and Gayle King, co-anchor of “CBS This Morning.” However, the fact that Ms. Kelly is on at 9 p.m. rather than during breakfast puts her choices in a different category, Ms. Haddad said: “She is talking to the prime-time audience, the critical audience.”

And what she is telling them, Ms. Kelly said, is “that, within reason, they can make their own choices about how they look and how they act.”

“I do think there is a new archetype for women emerging that rejects the bounds that have been placed on them,” she added.

A 1992 profile of Ms. Sawyer in Vanity Fair, for example, subtitled, “How she finally beat the glamour rap.” Ms. Kelly, who appeared on the magazine’s cover last February, only the second female newscaster to do so, has no problem with the glamour rap. In part because she doesn’t ignore it.

Describing the haircut she got before the second Republican debate, for example, when she was deep in her Trump war and decided to lop her beach-babe waves into a slicked-back crop, Ms. Kelly quite cheerfully took a four-letter invitation and turned it into a taunt — thus owning the vulgarity and weaponizing what might otherwise have seemed a mere beauty decision.

In her book she writes that when she went to meet Mr. Trump for the first time since their public tussle to discuss having him do an interview with her, she wore her favorite black sheath Gucci dress. “I feel strong in it,” she said.

By acknowledging the role clothes play in her own life and psyche, she is contravening one of the last taboos: If women want to be taken seriously, they are not supposed to take fashion seriously. A patently idiotic idea. (If you want to be taken seriously, you had better think seriously about every message you are sending, including the ones in your outfits.) In this she is part of a handful of women in the public eye who are breaking that rule, including Michelle “no sleeves” Obama and Sheryl “no hoodies” Sandberg.

“We talk about it a lot: What is the world we are trying to create for our daughters — she has one, I have two — and how we can move things forward?” said Debra Netschert, a managing director of Jennison Associates, an asset management firm, who has been friends with Ms. Kelly for about four years.

It is not a coincidence that in 2010, when Ms. Kelly moved from the morning show “America’s Newsroom” to become co-host of the afternoon show “America Live,” she hired her own stylist. Generally, the Fox anchors use the Fox stylist, just as they use the Fox hair and makeup people, which is why there is what is generally known as a “Fox Look”: for women, clingy brightly colored poly-rayon dresses that “pop” on TV, tousled hair and a lot of eye makeup, lip gloss and base. But, she said, that means “we all sort of look the same.”

When she started in TV after a nine-year career as a lawyer, she wore mostly navy, black and gray suits, and pinstripes — a “lot of Ann Taylor and Theory” — but then Fox put her in its wardrobe, “which was weird, because I had never really worn color before,” she said. So when she got her own show, she said she decided “I wanted to define myself differently.” Which is to say, “as myself,” rather than as the network’s product.

She enlisted the help of her neighbor, Dana Perriello, whom she knew first as a mom, but who had a sideline as a personal stylist. Because they were friends before they worked together, “She knew who I was,” Ms. Kelly said, and Ms. Perriello had an idea about how Ms. Kelly could express herself. They began to define a “Megyn look,” which had to do with clothes that were “strong, stylish, sleek, tailored, feminine, but not frilly,” Ms. Kelly said. “I don’t like frills.”

“She wanted to be fashionable not just in the news world, but in any world,” said Ms. Perriello, who puts outfits together for Ms. Kelly — dress, shoes, jewelry — and sends her look books of everything pre-assembled.

Now Ms. Kelly wears mostly dresses by Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney, Roland Mouret and Narciso Rodriguez, though Ms. Perriello is increasingly adding separates (and sleeves). The spaghetti-strap dress was by Ralph Lauren. In the photograph for this article, Ms. Kelly wore a black Fendi stretch jersey dress and silver Jimmy Choo nail-heeled stilettos. Her color palette is once again dominated by black and white, with the occasional red and blue thrown in. She likes a cutout and a high spiked heel. She also likes leather and, Ms. Perriello said, “hardware.” She has recently been wearing a lot of asymmetrical cuts, “which is not very common in news,” Ms. Perriello said. What she does not wear is florals or anything too lacy.

Also, “You will never catch me in a dress without a pair of Spanx and a bra,” Ms. Kelly said, and she is happy to explain why. In fact, she thinks it is good to explain why: “After three children, it all came back together, but it didn’t come back together they way it used to be.”

Though earlier this year she said that she, along with many of her female colleagues, was sexually harassed by the former Fox News chief Roger Ailes, and though she writes about it in her book, all of that happened during her “frumpy law-firm suit period,” not during her later, more fashion-forward period. A fact she pointed out to underscore that such harassment was really about power and not self-presentation. No woman is “asking for it” because of what she wears, and no woman should be judged for it, though judging — in a dismissive and derogatory way — is exactly what Ms. Kelly experienced earlier this year when Mr. Trump and assorted others resurfaced a 2010 GQ shoot of Ms. Kelly in a black slip and stilettos, draped over a chair.

In January, @gene70 tweeted the photo with the message, “And this is the bimbo that’s asking presidential questions?” Mr. Trump retweeted it. Ms. Kelly was having none of it.

“They tried to slut-shame me!” she said. “But I think I looked great. I had just turned 40, and I was pregnant. Some people at Fox still think it was a mistake, but I refuse to have to dismiss these options because of other people’s prejudices, and my willingness to engage just proves they are wrong.” In other words, it was appropriate because Megyn Kelly said it was appropriate.

Rhetorically, this is not unlike the argument Gloria Steinem used when someone told her at her 40th birthday that she didn’t look 40. Ms. Steinem responded: “This is what 40 looks like.” Ms. Kelly, however, may not like the comparison. She has regularly refused to categorize herself as a feminist, because she thinks it is nichifying. She also rejects descriptions such as “pioneer” and “trailblazer,” and says, “You don’t want to get drunk on your own wine,” and, “I’m just trying to be authentic.”

The irony is, insisting on her femininity while also insisting on her due — that she can have her career and her family, too, and in your face with a spaghetti strap it you don’t like that — may be the most authentically feminist act of all.

Shay Mitchell calls her grey hairs 'wisdom hairs'

The 29-year-old actress - who is known for playing the role of Emily Fields in 'Pretty Little Liars' - has admitted to spotting a few discolored strands of hair among her brunette tresses, but the star doesn't seem fazed by them because she considers them a sign of knowledge instead of a sign of ageing.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her new discovery and her nickname for them, she said: "I call them wisdom hairs -- more wisdom, great!
"I've definitely found a grey hair, probably like five of them.
"I am getting older. I am happy. You know what that means? I have more experiences. You can't freak out about [grey hairs]. Plus if you don't like it, then dye your hair -- no problem."
Although the star has revealed she isn't bothered about having grey hair, she has admitted she plucks them out whenever she finds one.
She explained: "Yeah, I definitely take them out. Put a collage [of them] next to my bed -- no, I am kidding! I don't do that, but yeah, I take them out."
And Shay - who has recently been announced as the face of Smashbox Cosmetics - has revealed her must-have beauty product is coconut oil and to "have fun".
Speaking about her essential item, she said: "That's the secret to me, it's super crucial. My mom was raised in the Philippines and that was her secret for beautiful hair, beautiful skin, that natural glow. So I like to use that in my hair and it really does work.
"My beauty philosophy is to have fun and not take it too seriously."

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom karaoke party

The raven-haired beauty and her Hollywood actor boyfriend attended her actress pal Shannon Woodward's bash, and the 'Lord of the Rings' star got fully involved with the singing, belting out a version of Avril Lavigne's 2002 hit 'Complicated'.

Katy, 32, shared a Snapchat image of Orlando, 39, bellowing out the big pop tune complete with the caption: "This is what the holidays looks like (sic)"

Other stars at the event included Shannon's 'Raising Hope' co-star Kate Micucci and TV personality Ronan Farrow, who shared an Instagram video of Katy leading the group in a version of Alanis Morissette's 'You Outta Know'.

He wrote: "@agreenersean and @katyperry killing it on the Alanis. (sic)"

Ronan - the son of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow - also posted pictures of the event.

He captioned two photos of the group: "When your friends commit to the Karaoke (sic)"

Katy recently praised Orlando for being so "kind" and admitted he has taught her a lot about being a UNICEF ambassador.

She said: "He's been a UNICEF ambassador for over 10 years and I've only been a few years so he's kind of shown me some of the ropes.

"Everyone is a teacher in a relationship, that's how I see it now. We've taught each other a lot."

Last month, the couple sparked speculation they had got engaged when Katy was seen sporting a jewel on her wedding finger in New York City.

A source said: "She [Katy] walked with her left hand leading her, and bent her hand to show off the large sparkler to the cameras. They seemed proud to show off their happiness ... Katy's mood was better than [I] had seen before. Katy was happy and laughing, joking with Orlando and pals as they got into the car. They seemed proud to show off their happiness."

Bill Clinton: Trump knows how to get 'angry, white men to vote for him'

President-elect Donald Trump “doesn’t know much,” former President Bill Clinton told a local newspaper earlier this month, but “one thing he does know is how to get angry, white men to vote for him.”

Clinton spoke to a reporter from The Record-Review, a weekly newspaper serving the towns of Bedford and Pound Ridge, New York, not far from the Clintons’ home in Chappaqua, New York. The former president held court earlier this month in Ketonah, New York, where he took questions from the reporter and other customers inside a small bookstore.

On the question of Russian cyberattacks damaging the candidacy of his wife, Hillary Clinton, the former president said “you would need to have a single-digit IQ not to recognize what was going on.” But he blamed FBI Director James Comey for her loss, telling those gathered around him that he had “cost her the election” by announcing with less than two weeks to go before the election that the bureau was examining fresh evidence related to her use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

Clinton’s comments were published in the newspaper’s print edition but have not been published online.

The former president confirmed that he had, in fact, received a phone call from Trump on the day after the election and that the Manhattan billionaire was strangely cordial, “like it was 15 years ago” when he was friendly with the Clintons and would socialize with them. Clinton said Trump told him that Hillary Clinton “was tougher than I thought she’d be.”

He also scoffed at the regular claim from Trump and his team that the president-elect’s Election Day win represented a “landslide” victory, despite the fact that he lost the popular vote. “Landslide? I got something like 370 electoral votes,” Clinton said, correctly recalling his 1992 total. “That was a landslide.”

For a loan of $10,000, with an interest rate of 15% for 10 years, you pay a total amount of $19,360.19. It means you pay more than $9000 in the form of interest. If the interest rate reduces to 6%, the total amount will come down to $13,322.46.

It is simple to understand how the total payable amount differs with a simple change in the interest rates. Hence, become a credible and punctual credit borrower. In return, you will be able to enjoy low interest rates on your next loan.

Why choose a Dealer for a Successful Car Buying Journey?

Sunday 25 September 2016

“It’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey”

Start a Successful Car Buying Journey

When you walk out of the house to buy the car of your dreams, it is better to plan out your journey. Discover the options from where you can make the purchase. You can either buy a used car from a private seller or a new car from a dealer. You can even choose the dealer for buying a certified pre-owned car to ensure its quality.

How can a Dealer help you in finding a Car?

Dealer can help you in finding your Dream Car

A dealer can be a pillar of strength in your quest of buying a car. You can enjoy many benefits by choosing a dealer. Let us have a look at some of the benefits provided by him:

>>When you opt for a licensed dealer, he will do all the legwork of obtaining the title for your car.

>>He will provide you with a statutory warranty that you cannot obtain from a private seller. In addition, he will also assist you with extended warranties.

>> He is considered as a one-stop shop for buying a car because he not only sells cars but also helps you with the auto loan and insurance part of the deal.

>>He is a car-expert. And, he can suggest you a model that suits your needs and budget.

>>He even offers maintenance facilities to keep your car running smoothly long after you have taken the delivery.

Precautionary Measures

“Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.”

The famous saying by Benjamin Franklin is true when you are buying a car from a dealer. Dealers employ experienced salespeople who have a bag of tricks designed to increase the profit. If you are not aware of the tricks, you will end up paying more for the purchase. Here are a few things that you should consider before visiting a dealer’s lot:

1. Do not be a Clueless Car Shopper

A dealer loves having a clueless car shopper. When you are not aware of what the price of the car should be, you will be unable to negotiate it with the dealer. So, it is advisable to find the average price of the car that you want to buy and then visit the dealer.

2. Be Wise, Cost-Wise

Take a careful look at the cost. A dealer boosts his profits by selling all sorts of accessories and add-ons. Such things increase the total cost of the car. So make a wise decision of avoiding them. And, if you are interested in buying add-ons, you can get the same things for a lesser price outside the dealer’s lot.

3. Confirm the Car

Sometimes, he advertises a car with a great price, but when you show up at the lot, he informs you that it is out of stock. Then, he tries to sell you an expensive vehicle. In such a case, call the dealer prior to visiting and confirm the availability of the car that you wish to buy.

4. Avoid the Errors

Errors in the paperwork are very common and the irony is that they are always beneficial to the dealer. So make sure that you review the paperwork thoroughly before you sign the dotted line.

If you want to make your car buying journey successful, you have to be cautious while buying a car. It is necessary to research and obtain facts before making a decision. But, it doesn’t mean you have to be suspicious of everything that the dealer says. Remember that when he sells a car, he is putting his reputation on the line. So, the last thing he wants is an unhappy customer.

Have you selected a car at the dealer’s lot? Now, you can get an auto loan without down payment and make car buying process affordable. Fast Auto Loan Approval provides auto financing for low income car buyers and ensures that a car becomes a reality for everyone.
